If someone has shared images of you online without your permission, there are a number of steps you can take to report them.

What is revenge porn?

Revenge porn is when somebody shares sexual images of another person without their consent.

Is it illegal?

In Scotland, the Abusive Behaviour and Sexual Harm act means that people who share intimate images without consent could face up to five years in prison.

Somebody has shared or is threatening to share images of me online, what can I do?

Talking to someone you trust is one of the first steps to take.

You can also contact the Young Scot Law Line for free confidential legal advice, 24 hours a day, seven days a week from a qualified lawyer.

The police can also help take action to stop any threats or harassment.

Take screenshots of the images and note down details such as the username, the date and time and the url where it has been shared.

For most websites you can try contacting the site administrator and ask them to remove the images.
