Weigh to Go
What is it?
Weigh to Go is for young people who are overweight and want to lose or manage their weight.
How does it work?
You receive 12 weeks of support from a Weigh to Go Nurse and Commercial Weight Management Services (Slimming World or Weight Watchers) to promote healthy, sustainable and successful weight loss. This can be extended to 24 weeks if you would like support for longer.
What happens when I join Weigh to Go?
If you live in Renfrewshire, you will meet with the Weigh to Go nurse on a Thursday afternoon in Johnstone Health Centre for 12 weeks (if you are under 16 we ask that you bring a parent/carer/guardian with you). At the first meeting you will have a chat with the nurse to sign you up to service. The nurse will also take some measurements such as your height and weight. If you live in Renfrewshire but would like to attend in another area we can sort this out for you.
What is Commercial Weight Management and how do I access it?
We work with Slimming World and Weight Watchers to help you lose weight in a way that is healthy. Once you have attended your first appointment with the nurse you will receive information about joining a local group. If you are 16 and over you can join any Weight Watchers group in Renfrewshire. If you are under 16 you can join any Slimming World group in Renfrewshire but must be joined by your parent/carer/guardian.
How do I get in touch with you to find out more?
If you (or your parent/carer/guardian) would like to find out more you can give us a phone on 0141 451 2727. You can also look at our website here http://www.nhsggc.org.uk/weightogo
