Smart Ticketing Scheme in Articles
This page has been set up to offer more details on the smart ticketing scheme currently being used with certain groups in Renfrewshire.
A partnership between Renfrewshire Council, Transport Scotland and McGill's Buses is helping to bring smart travel to the Young Scot National Entitlement Card in Renfrewshire.
Certain groups of young people have been identified where such a scheme would be of benefit and we are now at the stage where young people will be using their cards on McGill's Buses.
HOW YOUR TRAVEL SMART CARD INFORMATION WILL BE USED
When you use your Young Scot card to travel on McGill's buses, McGill's' ticketing system records details of the journey.
McGill's sends this data electronically through to Transport Scotland's system, which then shares it through to Renfrewshire Council for reporting purposes.
Your personal details do not appear within any of this data. The only item of information within any of this data that links with yourself is your unique card number.
Renfrewshire Council will use the data to understand how the tickets are being used, on what routes and how often.
- The data will be used to create, maintain and update the Council's records of the use made of the Smart Ticketing scheme and plan development for future services. As a publicly funded body, Renfrewshire Council has a responsibility to investigate efficient ways of providing services to the public.
- The data will also be used for the purpose of anonymised reporting on the use of the smart ticketing scheme.
- The only reason for a specific card number to be checked would be if the card was reported lost or stolen, in which case Renfrewshire Council may check against the specific card number to see if it is being used by someone else fraudulently. This is to protect both the cardholder and also public funds being misused. No personal data leaves Renfrewshire Council.
- The data will not be used for any other reason, nor will it be shared with any other third party.
The use, processing and protection of your information is important to us. All management of personal data is subject to the Data Protection Act 1998.
