Your frequently asked questions about the card, answered.
Q: How do I get a Young Scot card?
A: If you're applying for your first ever Young Scot card, you'll need to pick up an application form from a local validation point or call the free YoungScot InfoLine, open Monday to Friday 10am-6pm, on 0808 801 0338.
Q: How can I get a replacement Young Scot card?
A: If you've lost your Young Scot card, or snapped it in two (it happens) fear not, getting a new Young Scot card is easy peasy! All you have to do is call your local Young Scot office to ask for one to be sent out.
Q: How long does it take to get a card?
A: For your first Young Scot card, it can take up to 3-4 weeks for your Young Scot card to arrive at your door. Replacement cards usually take about 10-14 days.
Q: Where do I send my application form?
A: Before sending your application form to us, you'll need to validate it at your local validation point.
You'll need to take:
- your form
- a passport sized photo of yourself
- two forms of identification - one which is proof of age (e.g birth certificate, passport, driving licence) and one which is proof of address (e.g. bank statement or a letter from your school)
If you don’t already have any photographic proof of age, you’ll need to ask someone you know (who isn't related to you) to sign the back of your photo to say that it's a true likeness of you.
When your form has been validated, your local validation point will send it to us.
Q: How do I get a rail voucher or a bus concession card?
A: If you're aged 16, 17 or 18 you can get a discount on rail and bus travel.
You can buy discounted train tickets at the station by simply showing your Young Scot card at the ticket office. You can also buy discounted train tickets online. Simply select 'Scottish Youth' in the Railcard drop down section when booking your ticket.
There's no longer any need for a separate Bus Concession card. Simply scan or show the driver your Young Scot card when you get on the bus to receive the discounted fare.
Q: The Rewards code I’ve entered is invalid
