Where You Can Volunteer This Christmas in Community
The festive season is the perfect opportunity to spread some Christmas cheer to people who might be having a tougher time over the holidays.
If you're not quite sure what charity or cause you would like to help, you can look at volunteer opportunities across the UK on Do-it.
Or you can have a look at Scotland only opportunities on Volunteer Scotland.
Help Homeless People
The winter months can be particularly hard for homeless people due to the cold. Help improve their Christmas by lending a hand.
Volunteer at Crisis, who have a number of volunteer positions available in their Edinburgh branch.
Volunteer at Shelter Scotland, who have a few opportunities available (mostly helping out in their shops that help raise money for the charity)
Help Those Who Need An Extra Hand
Volunteer at your nearest foodbank and help people who need an extra hand during the festive season.
The Trussell Trust runs a number of foodbanks across the UK you can help out at.
Offer some of your time to The Salvation Army who help some of the more disadvantaged people in communities across the country.
Help Families Here and Abroad
Offer to collect money for Marie Curie, so they can help families with loved ones who have a terminal illness spend Christmas together
You can fill up a shoebox (irl or online!) with goodies to be sent to a disadvantaged child >
Help Out Some Animals
Why not help out some animals in need with the SSPCA ?
Or volunteer with Blue Cross who help cats, dogs, small animals and horses across the UK
