My Charity Abseil in Community

The #iwill campaign promotes social action among 10-20 year olds. This includes activities such as campaigning, fundraising and volunteering, all of which create double benefit to communities and young people themselves.

On the 21st May 2017 Rachel abseiled from the Forth Rail Bridge - all to raise funds for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland. Rachel tells us how she got on!

"I wanted to try something new. My dad was always telling me I was boring so I wanted to be adventurous and thought is there a better way to do this than abseil off the Forth Rail Bridge? I was shocked and scared when I was told I was picked!

Another reason I wanted to abseil was to make a difference and raise money for Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland. I had my sponsor form with me at all times and encouraged all my friends and family to pledge their support!

I had an amazing amount of support from my friends, family and Young Scot in the lead up to my challenge. I was also really grateful for the support from one of my teachers who came along on the day to cheer me on!undefined

I really enjoyed the experience. It was scary but definitely a good scary! It was amazing and one thing to tick off the bucket list.

My family, friends and teachers were all very supportive and helped me to raise £198 - they are the reason my abseil made a difference.

I would encourage all young people to be courageous and take positive action to make a difference. The #iwill Rewards campaign is a great way to access opportunities - it's allowed me to try something I never thought I would!"
