Delhi United

Delhi United is the name of the volunteering programme that is being organised for the 2010 Games. Volunteers play a vital role in huge sporting events and are often seen as the 'face of the games'. It might be difficult to volunteer at the Delhi Games but there are going to be lots of opportunities to get involved in London 2012 and Glasgow 2014 volunteering programmes. Take a look at the links at the side of the page to find out more information.

Green Games

Anyone who's concerned about the world's environment can rest assured that the Delhi 2010 organisers are committed to ensuring that the games have a carbon footprint of zero.

The Delhi organising committee are also implementing great 'green' initiatives such as:

  • ensuring new stadiums are as energy efficient as possible
  • reforesting programmes to plant more trees
  • a new Commonwealth Garden

Cultural Programme

The Organising Committee of the Delhi Games want to make sure that the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be be a dazzling display of Indian creative energies that will live in the memories of the spectators for a long time. There will also be events displaying Indian culture, heritage and folk lore held throughout the Games at several locations across the city.

Delhi will witness a slew of events celebrating the diverse cultural of India including its folk and classical dances, classical music, theatre and films as well as other creative skills, arts and crafts.
