Welfare Benefits Service

The Welfare Benefits Service comprises a small team of specialist advisers on issues relating to social security benefits and tax credits. We provide advice and practical assistance to enable Scottish Borders residents to maximise their income by claiming their full benefit and tax credit entitlement and also provide advocacy and representation for individuals at tribunals and to the Social Security Commissioner.

We currently receive some funding through the Regeneration Outcome Agreement to provide advice, information and support specifically to 14-25 year olds living in the Hawick and Langlee areas of the Scottish Borders. We can provide advice and help with form completion for Income Support, Jobseekers Allowance, Tax Credits, disability benefits, maternity benefits, benefits for students, housing and council tax benefits.
