Philip Lawrence Awards

The Philip Lawrence Awards celebrate groups of young people who are making a difference in their communities; breaking down barriers, tackling issues, strengthening communities and making lives better for themselves and others.

They are looking for groups of young people in the UK, aged between 11 and 20, who have made a positive impact on their communities.

This could mean groups from schools, youth clubs, and young people working with the youth service, youth offending teams, community safety teams, youth forums, positive futures and community space challenge projects.

You can nominate a group you are part of, or a group that you know.

The Judging Process

All the entries received are read through and carefully considered by the judges. Each year a mix of past winners join experts to judge the entries. The judges use the following criteria to decide on finalists and winners:

• Young people are improving their own lives and the lives of others
• Young people are taking a lead and having an impact
• Projects make a lasting contribution to their community
• Projects make strong links between generations
• Projects help promote active citizenship, crime reduction or community safety
• Projects promote respect and understanding of faiths, culture and communities

Reward and Recognition

Winning groups will get:

• An invitation to the glamorous awards ceremony
• National and local recognition for their great work
• Acknowledged as young leaders
• The opportunity to be part of the PLAnet fellowship

The PLAnet Network

By joining the PLA network you can create a group profile, highlight the good work you are doing within your project and have it added to our map of other inspiring work by young people.
