This Friday (30th September), Glasgow’s SECC will be holding a live music event for young people. It will be taken place in the evening and special guests will include: Jessie J, Pixie Lott, Sugababes, Matt Cardle, and Olly Murs along with the final two acts to be announced: Dappy and Cover Drive.

We interviewed Romeo from Clyde 1’s In Demand show and asked him about what he was looking forward to on Friday.

“Yeah, most of the people that are performing at Clyde 1 Live are big friends of my show, In Demand. We have a great relationship with these acts and they’re certainly going to deliver on Friday. And the crowd will not fail – they will be absolutely brilliant! It’s a Friday night so everyone is in the mood for the weekend.”

You might not have heard of the new band Cover Drive, but by the end of the night we’re sure you will. You are bound to have heard their new single but probably didn’t know it was their song.

Popular bad boy Dappy has just released his current single “No Regrets” which has soared to the number 1 hotspot. A great start to his solo career after previously selling thousands of albums and concert tickets with his band, NDubz, but Romeo thinks being on stage without band mates Tulisa and Fazer could bring a bundle of nerves...

“This will be Dappy’s first solo performance in Scotland since NDubz, so it will be interesting to see how he is feeling before he goes on stage and how he feels after it.”

Jessie J will also be performing hits from her recent debut album ‘Who You Are’, including her new single ‘Who’s Laughing Now’.

“Jessie J I think will definitely be the standout performance for me. I think Jessie J will be a big one. It’s her first performance in Scotland since she was due to be at T in the Park, and obviously her foot injury, so she is one of the biggest stars on the planet right now so to see her on Friday at the SECC will be out of this world!”

Next up is Pixie Lott who, in her short music career, has sold over a million copies of her album ‘Turn It Up’ and has had 2 UK chart number ones. We’re sure the Clyde 1 Live audience are in for a treat when she performs her latest single ‘All About Tonight’.

X Factor winner Matt Cardle is back with his new single ‘Run for Your Life’, released on 10th October, and the Clyde 1 Live audience are sure to expect a sneak preview performance!

“Matt Cardle’s quite guitar driven with a full band, so there’s a good mixture of acts performing on Friday.
“The Scottish crowds are one of the best in the world and when you hear 10,000 people roar and cheer from backstage at the SECC, it’s like nothing you will ever experience in your life.”

Romeo has been a great ambassador for Young Scot over the years, and this is the first time we’ve caught up with him since hosting the Young Scot Awards in March.

“The Young Scot Awards is one of my favourite events to do and there are so many people that go to it and rave about it because it’s such a cool, kind of laid back event and it’s all for a great cause.”
