Breast Cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK. It mainly affects people over the age of 50. As a teenager you’ll be excused for thinking that you don’t need to worry about it yet.
No matter how old you are though it is important to be aware of your breasts and what is normal for you. Everyone’s breasts look different so don’t worry if yours look different from what you would expect. Breast Cancer Care has lots of information for young people about breasts, bras, what’s normal and what’s not.
Scientists aren’t exactly sure what causes cancer. They are lots of rumours out there about what does or doesn’t cause breast cancer. You can get the facts from Breast Cancer Care!
We do know that drinking more than the daily-recommended allowance of alcohol and smoking can increase your risk of developing breast cancer. Check out the Young Scot Alcohol and Smoking Section for more information.
