REVIEW: Bleeding Knees Club - Nothing To Do

Reviewd By: Mark Graham

When I first added this song to my library, a couple of things worried me. Firstly, the band name... I feared that they would turn out to be just another indie band who thinks it's cool to come up with 2 or 3 unseemly words and then add 'Club' to the end of it (Two Door Cinema, Bombay Bicycle...).

And secondly... that the song is under 2 minutes in length. However, upon bypassing these worries and listening to it, I was pleasantly surprised. From what I can tell (they don't even have a wikipedia page. My friend's cat has his own wikipedia page. Jeez.), Bleeding Knees Club are an Australian lo-fi punk band, and are relatively new to the scene (please excuse my ignorance if this isn't the case).

'Nothing To Do' pretty much lives up to the genre which I placed them in above... upbeat, raucous and Australian, which are all good in my books. Full of punky guitars, loud drum beats and simple choruses, Bleeding Knees Club have succeeded in making a song which fits the punk-song mould perfectly, and so I would therefore be quick to recommend them to any punk fans, or just fans of upbeat music.

To both of those sets of people... you won't be disappointed. Especially if you then compare them to Towers of London. Donny Tourette? Hah.
