The new Information station is NOW OPEN on the corner of the central library back-walk. The Information Station is open (for 16+) to gain information about attractions, sexual health, jobs, education, benefits or just to be listened to. Under 16's are free to pop in to find out local information about their area or to apply for an NEC card.
What is the Info Station?
The concept for the project has been around for many years and was piloted in the Stirling Arcade in June 2010. Since then the Information Station has expanded, moved location and is now reaching out to, and working with, more young people across Stirling than ever before. There is also a Mobile Information Station Van supporting rural young people who may not of able to access the central location.
The Information Station provides information, advice and guidance for young people aged 16 and over. Information is distributed on a wide variety of issues such as education, employment, health, housing and travel and staff are prepared to answer any question a young person might have or to sign post them to an appropriate agency. - An easy coffee shop environment where you can enjoy drinks and low cost snacks.
- Access to information, guidance and support to help you be all you can be.
- Professional workers and other young people an hand offering you support on life's challanges.
- WiFi access.
- Young Scot NEC applications and free passport photo service.
Skills for learning, life and work
You could become a voluntary Peer Assisted Learner and support young people your own age to access information and services they need to progress in life.
- As a PAL you would receive accreditied training for the role.
- A uniform shirt is provided to identify you as a PAL.
- You will have access to one to one and group time with staff to support you with learning, life and work.
Volunteering at the Info Station
Have you got a skill to share? Perhaps you a computer whiz kid, make a mean americano or play the guitar? Then the Info Station wants you! Why not become a volunteer and share your skills, meet other young people and get support, training and accreditation while you do it!
