Universal Connections
Universal Connections are places for young people – designed young people – where they are encouraged to take part in lots learning activities. There are ten centres in total run by South Lanarkshire CoYouth Learning Service, some in partnership with other organisStaff work with young people encouraging them to develop new ideas to keep their Centre at the forefront of current trends. EveCentre offers free access to the internet so young people can echat to friends, explore the web or get help with homework.
Activities
Among the many programmes on offer are activities like live music, environmental projects, issue groups, skateboarding groups, health promoting projects and trips. Young people can develop skills in lots of different areas including web design, art and performing arts and at some Centres, can even use the recording studios to record their own music.
In additional to a wide range of informal learning opportunities, there are schemes to help with personal development and future employment such as The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, Prince’s Trust Volunteers, Young Scot Initiatives, Young Quality Scot Awards and the Youth Achievement Awards.
