There are three MSYPs for the Scottish Borders and they are responsible the views of all young people living in the area. They are part of the Scottish Youth Parliament along with 150 other MSYPs.
MSYPs have to be aged between 14-25 years of age and are elected for a two year term. They are supported by Community Learning and Development and we just held our elections in March 2011 to elect three new MSYPs.
What do MSYPs do?
MSYPs are responsible for consulting with young people to find out their views and opinions on issues that are important to them. They then take these views to local decision makers as well national SYP sittings which happen four times a year. MSYPs also take part in national SYP campaigns to try and improve things for all young people living in Scotland.
