2012 is the European year of Active Ageing and Solidarity Between Generations.

It means trying to understand and appreciate that although you might feel different to older people you still have things in common and will share similar opinions, thoughts and beliefs.
European Capital of Culture
Another way to promote and celebrate the cultural heritage of Europe is the European Capital of Culture. In 2012 it is... Maribor in Slovenia and Guimares in Portugal. There will be lots going on so if you were thinking about taking a trip to either of them, 2012 would be a great time to do it.
This whole Capital of Culture lark came about as a means of bringing citizens of the European Union closer together – celebrating the cultural history of lots of different places.
