There's loads of stuff you probably already do as a hobby but don't realise you are taking part in 'the arts'.
Do you take photos? Play a musical instrument? Are you involved in your school choir/drama group? Enjoy sketching? Have you designed your own Bebo page? Well, if you do any of that, you're taking part in the arts.
Whether you already have a creative hobby you love or you fancy giving something new a try there is tons of help out there to keep you going or get you started.
Get involved - In school
There's usually loads of different activities going on in your school, you just need to find out about them and have a go. If you don't know what's on offer then speak to your guidance/music/drama teacher and they will be able to help you out.
Don't be scared to try something new, because you won't know if you like it or not until you try.
Get involved - After school
If you fancy being creative but don't know what you want to do then pop in to your local Art Centre (check out Young Scot WOW) as there's usually something going on. There's staff on hand to help you out and the bonus is that you can borrow the expensive equipment!
Courses and careers
Think you have a talent and want to continue to be creative? There's loads of college/university courses available to you so you can take it that bit further.
From fashion to jewellery making, from DJ-ing to dance, you can train and develop your skills even more and hopefully you'll then go on to have a career in an area that you love. You could be the next Amy Macdonald, Dolce & Gabbana, or Picasso.
Most colleges and universities have an open day so you can take a look round, put your questions to other students, and generally see what's on offer.
A work placement is also a good idea if you are still at school and want to find out a bit more.
