Pathways to Music
Whether you would like an opportunity to take your first steps in learning how to play an instrument, want a better idea of the range of careers available in the music industry, are looking to get some airplay or would just like to hear advice straight from the professionals - Young Scot Extra's Pathways To Music has a variety of articles, videos, podcasts, discounts, events and interviews with the people who know what it's all about.
This year Pathways To Music will be out on the road, giving you an opportunity to learn first-hand from the professionals.
Each week the Pathways To Music trailer will be in a different area of Scotland, popping up in carparks, skateparks, shopping malls, town centres and everywhere in between, to let you try your hand at an instrument and find out more about the project.
Our Pathways To Music Outreach Officers are experienced musicians who can take you through the initial steps in learning to play and after an experience with one of our popular ukuleles, you'll undoubtedly leave knowing how to play along to either Jason Mraz's I'm Yours or Noah and the Whale's Five Years Time, or whatever takes your fancy!
At the end of week there will be a free Pathways To Music workshop event offering more in-depth and focused music-making activities for you to have a go at. With different activities available each week - ranging from beat-boxing, guitar playing, DJ-ing, music production, and an introduction to brass - you're bound to try something new, as well as meet the professionals and find out what opportunities there are locally to get involved with.
We'll post new details on this page each week to let you know exactly where Pathways To Music is, but you can always check Young Scot WOW for new music events and can keep up-to-date with the project over on the Young Scot Extra Facebook page and Twitter page. So get following and make sure you don't miss out!
