What is Music+?

Music Plus is a mentoring scheme run by the Scottish Music Centre and supported by the Youth Music initiative that allows young people with an interest in the music industry to begin the steps on the pathway to their dream career.

What does Music+ do?

Music Plus will introduce you to professionals who will mentor you one-on-one for up to 6 months offering guidance, encouragement, skills and knowledge across a wide range of industry roles.

Who is the scheme open to?

The scheme is available for anyone aged 14-19 years old living in Glasgow, Fife or the Highlands who has a keen interest in any of the following careers:

  • Bands / Artist
  • Songwriters
  • DJs
  • Agents
  • Producers
  • Artist Managers
  • Tour Managers
  • Promoters
  • Label Owners
  • Pluggers
  • Sound Engineers
  • Bookers

When will mentoring take place?

Mentoring will take place in early evenings, weekends and during school holidays.

Where will it take place?

The sessions will be based in music-related venues around the city centres. The scheme will also offer you the chance to attend music industry events and seminars, including the opportunity to shadow a professional during their working day.
