Its like a youth centre on wheels that can turn up at your area with loads to do!

Time for a quick update! As you may have noticed the Mobile Youth Centre hasn't been on the road a lot lately or maybe you've seen the 7.5 tonnes of fun driving around stretching its legs. Over the past year the Mobile Youth Centre has been in and out of the garage constantly due to vandals and faults. As you may have seen in the papers the Mobile Youth Centre was broken into four times, unfortunatly on two of those occassions items were taken and on one of the occassions the inside interior was ruined. But not to worry M.Y.C is now back on the road and excited to be out there again.
WE WOULD LIKE TO EMPHASISE THAT NO GOODS ARE KEPT INSIDE THE MOBILE YOUTH CENTRE!!!!!!
Over the Summer Holidays M.Y.C was out and about at many events including M&D'S Young Scot Got Talent, Big On The Beach and The Marymass. The Mobile Youth Centre works closely with the Y-Ired Volunteers when they organise Overload Events by providing access to the Centre during the day to the games consoles and internet access. During the evening the local bands that are playing at the events find time to relax in M.Y.C before going on stage to give an awesome performance.
The Mobile Youth Centre will be out and about again over the next few months. Up until easter the Mobile Youth Centre will be in Irvine with the Duke of Edinburgh Group. If you would like the Mobile Youth Centre to come along to your group speak to the workers in your group and ask them to contact the Young Scot Team.
Please do not hesitate to come along and see what M.Y.C has to offer you and your friends.
Danielle - Modern Apprentice Youth Worker
There's been quite a few changes here at the land of MYC: two of our long-serving members of the Young Scot Volunteers - Danny and Steph - have left the team and are now part of the new Young Scot Modern Apprentices along with Ashley and Bernard... We wish them all the best at their new posts, I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of them soon!
On a sadder note, Tam Stewart (a.k.a Fireman Tam) will be leaving the Young Scot team this Friday =[! We're all extremely sad to see him go but wish him all the best in whatever his pastures new and a happy retirement from the Strathclyde Fire Service.
This Saturday we'll be at the Woodwynd Open Day in Kilwinning, so be sure to come and pay us a visit... We'll have loads of stuff to keep you entertained and loads of goodies for you too!
Have fun at school on Thursday!!
We've had the Mobile Youth centre out at loads of events this month and there has a great response! The National Conversation Investigation Team have been using MYC to see what you have to say about Scotland. It's a fantastic opportunity for you to give YOUR opinions on how you would like Scotland to change. You can also win some fantastic prizes just by completing a quick consultation card! How easy is that?! You can catch up with us at all the MYC summer events listed on the MYC Calendar.
The Young Scot Volunteers and the Young Scot Team are at all the events with loads to keep you entertained and if you think you're brave enough you can challenge us at the Young Scot Tug of War... Warning: We're pretty good ;)!
MYC is back with us and has already been out to Auchenharvie Academy to let pupils have a look around, we also paid a visit to Dalrymple Place Children's Residential Home in Irvine and the young people there were very impressed.
MYC will be attending The Magnum on 10th June for the Good Practice Event and on 13th June for St Johns Primary School Fete.

MYC is having some technical problems and is unable to continue the pilot at the moment. We will keep you posted on what's happening.
The Mobile Youth Centre (MYC) Pilot started in the 2nd week in January with visits to Bourtreehill on a Tuesday evening and Broomlands on a Thursday evening.
We are half way through the pilot and have experienced problems with the bad weather and high winds meaning the cancellation of a visit to Broomlands on Thursday 31st January.
The young people attending have enjoyed the experience and there are loads of things to do, if you require any further information ask Damien Taylor or Laura McCulloch Community Workers.
MYC will be at Bourtreehill Towerlands Gate on Tuesday 12th, & 19th February from 7 to 9pm and Broomlands Primary School on Thursday 14th, February 7 to 9pm
Look forward to seeing you there.
Tam - Youth Development Worker
We've been extremely busy with MYC over the summer. Myself, along with staff members from North Ayrshire CLAD (Community Learning and Development) and Members from the Young Scot Volunteers met up to go through what is called the 'tendering' process. This basically involved us looking at what could be described as 'applications' from companies that wanted to build MYC. We received about 10 different applications and narrowed it down to just 2, and then finally 1.
Without giving too much away, because I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise… we then met up with the company who got the job of creating MYC to discuss the finer details of the Mobile Youth Centre. This included things like technical stuff, specifications of certain details of the bus, clarification on stuff that we weren't sure about, and best of all…we got to choose the colours for the inside! One thing I can say for sure though is that we are definitely getting a Nintendo Wii, Play Station 3, and a Xbox 360! Awesome or what?!
The Young Scot Volunteers have also came up a few ideas for logos and graphic (for the outside of the bus) ideas. But again, you'll just have to wait and see!
So… we're expecting MYC to be finished sometime at the start of October, and then we'll be having a big launch event. Not long till you should be seeing MYC out and about North Ayrshire!
Mark Jones Peer Support Worker with the Young Scot Volunteers
Recently we've asked different companies for their ideas for constructing MYC. This is called the tender process and it takes about a month to six weeks until we can choose who should be in charge of its construction. Also at the moment, we're working on the logo design and the artwork we need for MYC when it's built, and this is quite time consuming - coming up with something just right isn't easy!
Things are going to slow down with the volunteers because of summer holidays, etc, but we'll keep meeting up and working away on whatever comes next!
Graham
So far we've been concentrating on developing ideas for our Mobile Youth Centre - MYC.
MYC is our new project designed to give youths something to do and deliver accurate information easily. As well as this there will be a consultation room, internet café, drop in centre, a private room, an awning and outdoor games. Plus inside the bus there will be games consoles and training (e.g. for the hack pack).
This will benefit North Ayrshire in many ways, for example it attracts young people to a safe and secure place to go which stops them hanging about on streets constantly and therefore there is less chance of them getting into trouble. It's a way of informing young people of services and provides a bridge between them and services, its also a fun way of consulting with young people.
MYC is the Young Scot Volunteer's project and all funding and designs were applied for by the volunteers, the volunteers benefit from MYC by gaining experience. MYC provides internet access in rural areas, provides a place to meet new people, rural transport and up to date information. It gives young people a chance to be heard and the chance to have a say in the planning of services in North Ayrshire.
Currently the volunteers are only at the first stages of planning and designing MYC and have full say in colour schemes and logo. We are presenting the theory and picking a bus designer soon and will keep you updated on our progress through this project.
