Placebo - Bright Lights

Placebo

Now I have a bit of a confession to make before I start this review. I've never really liked Placebo. There'd always been something about their music that I just didn't get, couldn't get into. I didn't particularly hate them, I just didn't think they were very good...until now.

Placebo's new single, Bright Lights, is a great song, with good, powerful lyrics ("A heart that hurts/Is a heart that works") that lead singer Brian Molko delivers expertly. At times on this song they sound slightly like Death Cab for Cutie, which is by no means a bad thing. It repeats itself a few times, but when it's this good, who really cares? And plus, there's not that many songs out there without repetition in them somewhere.

I must confess this song has totally changed my perspective on Placebo. I might have to nip out and buy the album now, if all the tracks are as good as this one.
