You don't need to slog it out in a gym full of sweaty people to keep fit. Simply increasing your daily activities can help you maintain a healthy lifestyle. We all know that maintaining a balanced diet is essential when trying to keep fit but regular exercise is just as important for physical fitness and good health.
It is often difficult to adhere to an exercise plan now the Active Nations programme is here to help!! Active Nations is a public engagement programme designed to inspire the people of Scotland to be more active in their everyday lives in the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games and beyond.
Yes, everyone can get involved. The idea is to be a bit more active - for example by walking to work regularly or by participating in a new exercise class or by joining in a dance group - the possibilities are endless and only you will know what will suit you best.
Getting more active isn't about running a marathon or turning into someone you're not. It is about adding enough activity into your daily routine so that you feel the benefits. It doesn't have to be too serious either, being active should be fun. That is why it is really important to find activities that you enjoy doing and want to keep up.
So Whether it's Walking your Welsh terrier, Washing the Windows or simply Taking out the Trash - these small activities are enough to get you into a more active routine and you can build them up over time. That's enough to get you more active. You see - it's much easier than you thought.
Getting started can seem a bit daunting but you'll be surprised at how many easy activities there are to get you started. And the great thing to know is that you are not alone - the whole country is getting active too with you. Don't worry if sport is not your thing or you feel out of shape. This is a good opportunity for you to find something active to do that you really enjoy and then incorporate it into your everyday life. It's amazing how quickly you will feel the benefits.
Now you are thinking, where do I start? Well Active Nation is helping you to get started and keep going. By giving you the chance to set your own activity goal, track your daily progress and meet others who are doing the same - Active Nation is a great way to get you started. We can help you find activities in your area, so why not join Active Nation now. It's your first step towards a fitter, healthier you.
